Certificate in Gerontology

By the year 2030, people age 65 and over will double to 70 million –
20 percent of the U.S. population. Currently, more than 70,000 people in the United States are over the age of 100. Projections for the year 2030 range from 350,000 to almost 1 million centenarians.

Gerontology is the study of the process of aging. We provide a multi-disciplinary approach to understand the biological, psychological, and social influences on people as they age.

In addition, the study of gerontology examines the impact of social, political, economic, and health care policies on the welfare of the elderly – a rapidly growing segment of the U.S. population.

The Gerontology Certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside shows potential employers that you have the educational experience necessary to relate to the needs of our aging population and that you are motivated and prepared to work in this field. This certificate indicates that you have received college credit for your work.
