On the RYOC site visit
i did background research before we went to RYOC by watching the documentary about prisons on the national geographic channel last sunday. ryoc was nothing like the show. i expected to see more security guards and not offenders being able to walk around so much
debbie -- but what level of security was the facility shown in the documentary?

On queer theory
Our discussion in class today on Queer theory makes me think of what Martha Minow is saying in Making All the Difference in regards to the dilemma of difference. If in Queer theory, social justice is the endpoint, in seeking justice, will that require calling attention to difference and therefore, expose the group to even more discrimination?
lindsay -- yes, an unintended consequence with an ironic twist.

On English Only
West Virginia has made English their official language earlier this week. I thought it was worth mentioning since we just discussed this topic in class. Granted we talked about English as our country's language but this is just one step closer i think.
sarah -- bring this up in class. what is your reaction to this move?
