As with so many things, the way we see death, remembrance, renewal, mortality, and immortality depends on our beliefs, the context of those beliefs and the cultural context in which we find ourselves. Sometimes it's easier to see that when we talk about halloween instead of health care or how we should handle terrorist attacks and what we should do with the terrorists.

- Do men and women develop with different moral stages and responses? Kohlberg's stages of moral development
Carol Gilligan based her explanation of different answers to moral and ethical dilemmas on her contention that females are more sensitive to relationships than are males, leading to different moral and ethical responses. Check out the Wikipedia article on Kohlberg and his critics, and then consider what you think about this.
Permission to not have an opinion. But try to bear in mind that some day on some issues, you will have an opinion. Then you might want to come back to Kohlberg and his critics, as they pertain to things that matter to you. That will help you better voice your ideas and positions in governance discourse. Good citizenship, that.
